Smart Giving Solutions For Dual Taxpayers
Sometimes when your heart calls you to give, your tax situation gives you pause. If you’re earning income in both the United States and the United Kingdom or Switzerland, charitable giving can feel unnecessarily complicated. The good news? It doesn’t have to be. At TrustBridge Global Foundation, we’ve partnered with dual-qualified charities to create giving solutions that work seamlessly across borders and allow you to maximize both your impact and your tax benefits.
The challenge
Traditional charitable giving often forces dual taxpayers into an uncomfortable choice: claim tax benefits in one country while missing out on deductions in the other or navigate a maze of paperwork trying to optimize benefits in both jurisdictions. Many generous donors simply give up on tax optimization altogether, leaving valuable deductions on the table that could have funded even more charitable work.
A simpler path forward
Our dual taxpayer solution transforms this challenge into an opportunity. Instead of donating directly to your chosen charity, you first contribute to one of our specialized partner organizations—IGF TransAtlantic for U.S./U.K. donors, or Swiss American Giving for U.S./Swiss donors.
Here’s how it works: These dual-qualified charities receive your donation and immediately issue the proper tax receipts for both countries. For U.K. donors, this includes filing for Gift Aid, which adds an extra 25% to your donation’s impact at no cost to you. You recommend where these funds should go and your grants can be distributed to more than 220 countries and territories.
The benefits multiply
This approach offers remarkable flexibility. Your contribution can support causes in the U.S. U.K., Switzerland, or virtually anywhere in the world through our TrustBridge Global Network. You can fund existing charities directly or establish a donor-advised fund at TrustBridge Global for ongoing giving flexibility.
Beyond tax optimization, you gain access to our extensive due diligence and local expertise. Our network ensures your donations reach legitimate, effective organizations, whether you’re supporting education in rural Kenya or disaster relief in Southeast Asia.
Addressing common concerns
“Is this too good to be true?”
It’s a fair question. These solutions work because our partners maintain proper charitable registrations in multiple countries, meeting all legal requirements for tax-deductible giving.
“What about minimums and costs?”
We deduct a modest contribution assessment (1% in the UK, 3% in Switzerland) from your donation that covers all the complex paperwork and ensures proper compliance across jurisdictions. While there is no minimum required contribution amount, the contribution assessment is subject to a minimum of £150 in the UK and CHF 150 in Switzerland.
“Will I still have a say in where my money goes?”
Absolutely. The recommendation process ensures your philanthropic intentions are honored while providing the tax efficiency you need.
Making global giving easy
Your desire to give shouldn't be limited by tax complexity. When you make tax-smart plans for your charitable giving, you'll have more available to donate to the charities and causes you want to support. Through our dual taxpayer solutions, you can embrace generous giving while maximizing your tax benefits across multiple countries.
Ready to simplify your cross-border philanthropy? Let’s explore how our giving solutions can amplify your impact while respecting your tax obligations. Because when generosity meets efficiency, everyone wins.
